The European Policy Institute - Skopje on 2 December 2016 in the hotel "Holiday Inn" organized a policy dialogue on quality, efficiency and competence of judges and courts. The event was organized, as a part of the project "Justice: Governance for Growth Monitor (JuDGMeNT)", which monitors judicial reforms in the frame of the Southeastern Europe 2020 Strategy. It was pointed out through the discussion that political interference is the main obstacle in achieving competent and quality judiciary. Additionally, the lack of support from the Government and Parliament, especially in terms of financing the judiciary, stands in the way of quality and competent judiciary. The speakers pointed out the fact that a part of the judicial administration is not sufficiently trained, and that some judges need additional training and education. Multiple relevant experts and practitioners took part in the event.
